Knotts Island Ferry

The only land route to Knotts Island is from Virginia. The State of North Carolina operates a free ferry year-round for access from North Carolina. The ferry trip is approximately 45 minutes and maintains the same schedule year-round:
Departing from Currituck at 6:00am, 9:00am, 11:00am, 1:00pm, 3:30pm
Departing from Knotts Island daily at 7:00am, 10:00am, 12:00pm, 2:00pm, 4:30pm, 6:30pm
An additional run has recently been added for the 2007-2008 school year. The state has added a 6:30am departure from Knotts Island and a 6:30pm departure from Currituck. About 125 children on Knotts Island make the daily ferry trip to attend school on mainland Currituck County.
